Before Donald Trump authorized, then twice retracted, an order for total troop withdrawal in Syria, the United States and our loyal partners, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), destroyed the Islamic States' so-called caliphate and gained control of a large portion of eastern Syria by using a light-footprint, low-cost operations strategy.  This model should be further refined and replicated.
